Papa's visit

Here are some more photos from my Dad's visit in mid-December. Carolyn and James had a great time with Papa and were so excited that he was coming back for Christmas the following week. In addition to the McDonald's Christmas party and the visit with Auntie Cookie, Papa also got to join us for Carolyn's last swimming lesson of the session.

Movie time

Western Springs became Edina, MN for a day in early December for the filming of part of the movie "Contagion". It stars Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and others.

We went to town with some friends to try to catch a glimpse of the action, but were shooed away. This is Carolyn and her friend Anna.

Snow!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Carolyn did an excellent job of helping to blow out the candles.

Grandma Conching

It is with sadness that we share that Desi's grandmother passed away on Sunday at the age of 92. We are thankful that we got to see her in September at Desi's cousin's wedding in Miami.

Candyland

The Clown can certainly throw a party! Auntie Nee-Nee took Carolyn and Papa to the company Candyland Christmas Party on Saturday. They had everything a kid could want...

balloon animals,

a choo-choo train,

a bounce house,

Santa

and, of course, Ronald himself (Grimace was there, too, but Carolyn was terrified of him).

Visiting Auntie Cookie

Christmas posts are coming, but until then, here is some catch-up...

When my dad came to town in mid-December we went to visit Auntie Cookie, who was recovering from breaking her pelvis for dinner. It was great to see her and Auntie Donna. Carolyn loved the homemade pasta and James had fun drumming the table in Auntie Cookie's lap.

Food, glorious, food!

Rice cereal

Green Beans

Peas

James wasn't a huge fan of rice cereal, so we quickly moved on to the green vegetables. He eats best when you let him grab the spoon and put it in his mouth himself.

James' 7 month bday, first snow and the break through of his first tooth (bottom left) all happened on the same day.

Merry Christmas to me

We have entered the world of the DSLR. Desi gave me my Christmas present a little bit early so that I can figure out how to use it in time for Christmas. I love it!

Taking after Mommy

Actually, I think she is already better at playing the drums than I ever was. Friday night we went to Great Uncle Dan's 50th b-day party. It was past bedtime for both of our little ones, but a few chocolate covered pretzels for Carolyn and some smiles and hugs for James kept them going.

Happy Birthday, Uncle Chuckie!

Uncle Chuckie's birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year and we were so happy to celebrate with him. Apparently James is now big enough to be held.

More turkey, please

Our final stop of the day was at Desi's Aunt and Uncle's house. Carolyn was so excited to see Carly, her usual partner in crime, and had a great time with all her cousins.

It was way past James' bedtime so he enjoyed a nice nap on Auntie Marchia.

Second stop

Stop number two on our Thanksgiving adventure was at my cousin Gina's house. Carolyn and James were immediately swarmed by their cousins and they loved every minute of it.

Carolyn even learned how to Skype.
