Easter

We enjoyed a nice quiet Easter with church in the morning and dinner at home with Grandma Dolly, Papa Chuck and Auntie NeeNee in the evening.  The highlights of the kids' Easter baskets were magnifying glasses and Mickey and Minnie. Every time we go to Carolyn's friend Anna's house, James goes upstairs to her bedroom and brings down her Mickey and Minnie dolls so I thought he might enjoy having his own (and maybe he'd stop stealing his sister's dolls).  The doll stealing has slightly let up as he sleeps with his new friends and carries them all over the house.

Dominick's Easter Egg Hunt

Carolyn wasn't too excited about hunting in her own aisle and gave up after collecting about 5 eggs.  We went over to James' aisle to check on his progress and she decided to get back into the action.  Thankfully there were only four two-year-olds and more eggs than they could fit in their baskets so no one minded the three-year-old addition.

Bedroom camping

Catching up on some pre-baby Desi moments...We've been talking about doing some camping this summer and Carolyn has really been wanting to have a Daddy sleepover in her room so we combined the two with a new tent.  We learned that camping with a two-year-old might not be so much fun as James ran around crazily while the rest of us tried to fall asleep.

Shedd Aquarium

Having Desi home all week has meant lots of extra help and naptime for me as well as an opportunity for a family field trip. I've been wanting to take the kids to Shedd for a while so it was great to finally go. The jellyfish exhibit and the dolphins were the highlights of our visit.

WS Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday March 31st was our annual village Easter Egg hunt. Carolyn spent all week looking forward to the big day, but once it came the 40 degree weather put a little damper on things. James on the other hand, was totally unfazed by the cold and quickly grabbed all the eggs he could.

Nothing but tears for the Easter bunny.

Finally some smiles when we started eating the candy:)

Spring Break Visitors

Papa Dave, Grandma Tracey and Rachel came to visit us for a few days of spring break in March. It happened to coincide with our 80 degree weather so we were able to spend a lot of time in the backyard.

Papa helped James work on his swing,

Grandma Tracey and Carolyn played Memory,

and we visited our favorite animals at the zoo.

In search of an iPad3

Even on the day after its release the iPad3 was actually not hard to find, they had a bunch at the Best Buy Express at Yorktown, but it was a fun reason for a family morning excursion to the mall. It was our first time playing on their new playscape and riding the train.

My first black eye

As I was getting ready to leave for book club last month James decided to climb over the back of the couch. He landed right on his face/neck/etc... it was a little bit scary. After picking him up and feeling sure that there was no serious injury I let him stand up and dance around. Two minutes later he walked into the corner of the dining room table. Not sure which of the incidents caused the black eye, but we're thankful that it has fully healed!

February in Vegas

Back in early February we flew out to Las Vegas to spend a week visiting Desi's parents. It was a great last pre-baby trip where the kids had a wonderful time with their grandparents and Desi and I got to go out every night.

The plane ride on the way there. Carolyn was very specific in asking to bring two of her babies (who typically aren't permitted to leave the house), one for her and one for James.

We spent most of our time at Grandma Mila and Grandpas Jim's house, but made a field trip to the strip one day to see Sigfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage. It was cool to be so close to the dolphins and exotic cats.

Fun at the park.

In 'N Out Burger (which we only ate four or five times:))

Franklin and the fish who live in the backyard were a huge hit as usual.

James' first taste of Spam.

Hugs for Grandpa Jim before heading to the airport for our 6:40 am flight.

Heading home after a wonderful visit. Thank you to Grandpa Jim and Grandma Mila for having us! Carolyn keeps asking when our next visit is going to be!
