Fishy videos

2 fishies: Take 2

Desi went straight to the pet store after he got back into town on Tuesday and found two new fishies for Carolyn. The owner said that that person he spoke with on Sunday had given him bad information which contributed to the demise of our first two fish.

Carolyn watched the whole process from dechlorinating the water to getting the fishies out of the bag.

Then she helped to feed them their dinner. I'm happy to report that as I type this five days later, both fishies are still happily swimming in their bowl. Feeding the fishies their dinner after she eats hers has become a new highlight in Carolyn's day.
.
Tuesday was also Carolyn's 21 month b-day. She went to the doctor for her check-up two weeks ago (so she has 20.5 month stats). She is 33" tall (75th %ile) and 21 lbs 15 oz (5-10th %ile). She hadn't gained any weight since her 18 month visit, but since she is getting taller and all other stats look good, her doctor is not concerned. She is just our long and lean little lady:).

Next door's new Rainbow

Carolyn with Logan (left) and Mitchell (right) at the top of the slide on their new swingset. The boys have been waiting for installation day for months and were so excited to invite Carolyn over to try everything out. Most of the components are for slightly older kids, but Carolyn did a great job of climbing up the steps and going down the slide.

House Anniversary

On Sunday we celebrated the second anniversary of closing on our house. It's amazing how quickly time has flown by. We have so many wonderful memories and can't wait to make more; especially in the next two weeks with the upcoming addition to our family. As you can see, I'm huge! My doctor says it could be any day now. We'll keep you posted!

2 fishies

Desi brought home Carolyn's first pets on Sunday. Unfortunately, by Sunday night, neither one was still with us. They were adorable colored goldfish, aptly named fishy 1 and fishy 2. Fishy 1 passed before CJ got to meet it, but fishy 2 was around for most of the afternoon. She enjoyed watching it swim and tried tapping on the bowl to get its attention. Desi will be heading back to the pet store to start our fishy experience anew.

Dinner with friends

My friend Gail was in town for a concert this past weekend so we got the old OSU crew together for dinner. Carolyn has lots of fun playing with Jamie and Liza, as she calls them. Unfortunately, you can't see cute little Eliza's face in the picture.

After dinner we headed out to Naperville to catch part of Uncle Ray's performance with his friend's band. Carolyn was a bit on the tired side, so she wouldn't let him hold her, but we took this lovely picture anyway.

Ty Warner Park

Last week our neighbors introduced us to Ty Warner park. It is about 10 minutes from our house and was a fantastic place to enjoy one our of recent 80+ degree days. They have a giant sand area (which was surprisingly clean) as well as a playground designed for 3-6 year-olds which Carolyn loved.

Easter fun

Opening the presents in her Easter basket

She receieved a Melissa and Doug vegetable and fruit chopping set. She is still working on her knife skills and loves separating all the pieces.

Grandma Dolly and Papa Chuck watching the Easter egg hunt at Gina's house.

Loving her first jelly beans.

All of the girl cousins

Springtime

Chicago is actually experiencing spring this year and we are taking full advantage with lots of play-time outside.

Playing Peek-A-Boo with Daddy

This shopping cart has become a favorite toy. She loves to push it up the driveway and down the sidewalk. We're still working on the concepts of not going into the street and not running away from Mommy and Daddy.

Enjoying one of the beautiful Easter cookies that our new neighbors, The Clarkes, dropped off for her.

Muddy afternoon

Today the high temp record set back in 1946 was broken as we enjoyed an 83 degree day. After Wiggleworms in the morning and lunch with Grandma Dolly and Papa Chuck, we enjoyed an afternoon of backyard fun.

There was bubble blowing,

coloring on the driveway,

and, best of all, going down the swingset slide head first, right into the mud. The latter was not a planned activity, hence the lack of picture, but here you can see the bits of mud on her nose, cheek and hand. We had two sets of neighbors over and she accidentally got pushed down the slide before she was in the right position. She was a little freaked out at first, but quickly gathered herself and went right back to swinging, sliding and teeter tottering.

Impromptu visit to the zoo

Some confusion over our membership passes led to a quick trip to the zoo yesterday. The place was packed due to spring break and the gorgeous 75+ degree weather. I learned shortly after we arrived that I hadn't needed to make the trip in the first place, but Carolyn asked to see the giraffes so we stayed to look at some animals. Unfortunately the giraffes were not outside, but we did see some zebra, camels, two lively rhinos, an elephant getting its feet cleaned, two resting lions and a roaming tiger. Each time we go Carolyn is more and more excited to see the animals. This time she waved and said hi as we approached each one and waved and said bye as we moved to the next exhibit.
