One month old

We went in for Carolyn's four week checkup last Tuesday. She weighs 9 lbs and is 21.25 inches long (her doctor didn't tell us the percentiles, so I have no idea how she compares to her peers). We're happy to have another good eater in the family:)

These photos are from August 20, her one month b-day.

More weekend fun

As I mentioned, Carolyn took her first dip in a pool this past weekend. The water was a bit cold, so only her feet made it in before the crying began. Her cousin Brendy was able to fully enjoy the new whale slide pool. On a side note, the Snoopy suit she is wearing was my first bathing suit. The elastic was a little shot after sitting in a box for 28 years, but overall it was in surprisingly good shape.

I think the only thing cuter than naked baby (learning to hold her head up in these shots) is a Buckeye baby! We practiced for football season by trying on a new onesie (thanks Catherine & Wayne!) and yelling "O".

Meet the Masinis!

I'm quickly learning that there isn't a whole lot to report each day on the life of a one month old. While each moment is exciting for me, I think the repetition would be boring for most of you, so please forgive my lack of recent posts.
This past weekend, however, did provide lots of excitement for us. My entire immediate family came to visit. Carolyn met everyone, went swimming for the first time, turned four weeks old and helped celebrate Desi and my first wedding anniversary.

She spent most of the weekend like this, with Papa Dave.

Everytime I start to think that she is getting so big, I just have to look at her in the arms of her Uncle Chuckie to know that she is still a teeny little peanut.

Uncle Brendan and Auntie Carrie came all the way from Texas to meet our little one.

And, of course, with them came cousins Brendan Jr. and Michael.

3 weeks

I can't believe that Carolyn is already three weeks old! She continues to be a calm and sweet baby. It is a joy getting to know her better each day. We are still in to process of establishing a routine consisting of napping, eating, reading (we are working our way through the complete adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh) and singing (Raffi is just as good today as he was 25 years ago!). We are looking forward to a visit from Papa Dave, Uncle Brendan, Auntie Carrie, cousins Brendan and Michael and Uncle Charles this weekend! I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures from that, but for now here are some random pictures that I haven't posted yet.

Racing Tinkle Crinkle

Sometimes during tummy time, Carolyn likes to race her friends Tinkle Crinkle Rattle and Squeak and Mini Tinkle Crinkle. This week, it was neck and neck with TCRS early on, but Carolyn pulled ahead in the end.

Aunties and Uncles and Cousins...Oh, my!

Over the last few weeks, Carolyn has been learning about her big family. Aunt Marichu and cousins Lindsay and Jack stopped by last week(unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures, so we'll rectify that the next time we see them). On Saturday she met Uncle Fred, Aunt Kris and cousin Sam. Then, on Wednesday, Aunt Marchia came to see her.

Sunday, we went to Gavin Mulhall's baptism party and met a whole bunch of cousins, including the other two newest ones Ryan (8 weeks) and Gavin (7 weeks).

Duckie

Carolyn has been fortunate enough to have her Daddy home for the last two weeks. He has been an amazing help to Mommy as he has demonstrated his fathering capabilities. He sings to his little girl, rocks her, takes care of her while Mommy naps and has become a pro at changing diapers. Last week he did the cutest thing...He has been working very hard at making our front lawn green and needed to make a trip to the local True Value Hardware Store to pick up some things. Mommy needed some letters to be mailed so Daddy took them since the post office is around the corner from True Value. When he got home he said he had something for Carolyn. It was a darling yellow Duckie blankie for his little girl. Apparently, upon dropping off the letters at the post office he noticed a baby store across the street and took a look inside. He almost got a pink piggy, but, knowing my lack of love for pink, opted for the duckie (I explained that the piggy would have been okay, because pigs are actually pink, but I loved his thoughtfulness). Carolyn's initial reaction was a bit defensive (impressive left hook!), but she has warmed up to the little guy.
