Soccer in September

The winter coats and hats made an appearance at James' 8:15 soccer game on Saturday (43 degrees out at game time). The sun came out and James played great.

Little Desi's first day

He went from not so sure to super smiley at home and then repeated that once we got to school.  The church where is his preschool is located is also the church where I used to go to mom's group.  Desi was never a fan of being left in the childcare and I'm pretty sure that is what he thought was going to happen again today. Thankfully magnetic puzzles quickly captured his interest and he calmed down.  From there he made his way around the room to all of the tables and play areas.  The separation this Friday may still be rough, but he has at least one good buddy in the class and all three teachers are fantastic so I think it will get easier from there.

First day of 1st grade pick-up

At pick-up I got a picture of Carolyn with her teacher, Miss Gibbons
and a better one with her BFF, Anna.

A day at the beach

Last Monday night we made a little drive up to South Haven Michigan to squeeze in an end of summer day at the beach.  The weather didn't cooperate for a full day, but we got a few hours in.  Enough time for a dip in the lake, sand castle building and witnessing a crazy thunderstorm over the lake.

When sister is away...

The boys will play...

Without Carolyn here to direct the play, it's been a hotwheels and power tools kind of morning.

1st Grade

Today Carolyn went of to first grade.  It was a morning that will most likely be remembered for the fierceness of the mosquitos.  They started attacking the moment we walked out the door, kept swarming the whole walk to school and finally stopped when we were safely back at home.  Thankfully there was some Cortizone 10 in the diaper bag so Carolyn wasn't super itchy as she walked into school.  They rearranged which classes enter at which doors so the first graders go in the same spot they did as kindergartners.  Carolyn found her line and is so excited to have her BFF in her class this year (for the first time since 3 year old preschool).   She's staying for lunch so we won't see her until 3:30.  I can't wait to hear her thoughts on her first day.  And, for Pinterest's sake, when she grows up she wants to be an artist.
