Headband lady

So the little one's hair is getting super thick and long. I'm torn between trimming it into a cute bob and letting it grow out into little girl hair. Thankfully, until I make up my mind she has started to embrace some styling, at least in the form of the headband. In the past it was challenge to get her to keep anything in her hair, but now she'll walk up to me holding the headband, allow me to put it on and then look at herself in the mirror and smile. She is also back to being tolerant of bows.

Dancing Zebra

I forget if I've mentioned it before or not, but we have been blessed with wonderful neighbors (in general, but particularly next door to the south). Their boys (ages 6 and 3) love Carolyn. The older one invites her inside to play every time he sees her and he loves to share with her. The parents are great, too. They invite Carolyn and I over for dinner when Desi is out of town and, much to Carolyn's delight, have passed on the her many of the toys that the boys have grown out of. The latest of which is this musical zebra. At first I thought Carolyn might not be ready for it quite yet, but she quickly proved me wrong by climbing on and dancing. She loves the music (which Desi and I have decided is straight from Mario Kart) and has a great time bopping up and down. Sometimes she'll just stand next to it and dance.

Our little salsa dancer

Carolyn was showing off her moves at dinner tonight. Of course when the camera was turned on she toned it down a bit, but here is a taste of our little dancer.

O-H!

Pregame at the Worthington tailgate. Ask Court for the story of her glasses.

Our seats were right against the rail. It was really nice to have something to lean on since we spent the entire game standing and screaming.

Take me out to the ballgame

Carolyn made it through an entire baseball game for the first time last Friday. The secret seemed to be her having her own seat (having several adoring fans behind us who played a lot of peek-a-boo with her didn't hurt either).

Showing off her new kicks.
Thanks to Papa for the great tickets!

Slide time

Here is some of the fun that Carolyn had with her Daddy while I was away in Columbus. (I can't bring myself to cut her hair yet)

Labor Day Weekend

Saturday was the start of college football season. Carolyn amazingly still fit into this onesie (which was really huge last year, pictured here in January). It was a close call for the Buckeyes and a rough day for the Illini, but it still felt great for the season to start.
Sunday was devoted to celebrating cousin Jackie's 5th birthday at my cousin Geralyn's house. Carolyn went straight for the shopping cart and proceded to empty it, item by item.

When her cousin Ryan came over and attempted to steal it, she refused to back down (grabbing onto his shirt and following him). He eventually gave it back.

On Monday we headed up to Auntie Marichu's house for a Labor Day BBQ. Carolyn displayed her eating talents, devouring almost an entire chicken kabob and enjoyed examining the croquet mallet while watching Daddy play volleyball.

Congrats, Auntie Courtie!

Congrats, Auntie Courtie for getting Carolyn to eat bananas! And, of course, finishing your second Olympic distance triathlon. Here she is heading off on the run.

waiting for Courtney to come out of the water

At the end of the race enjoying said banana (which Carolyn seriously despised until she saw Auntie eating it. She stuck out her hand asking for some, chowed down and then did so again today at Grandma Dolly and Papa Chuck's house). Desi made mention of being motivated to do next year's marathon, so we all need to hold him to that:)
