Halloween practice

We ended up with three costumes to choose from for Halloween, so we had dress-up day to decide the winner. In the end, Curious George was deemed too big (it said 0-6 months, but I think 2T is more accurate) and the other two split the day.

3 months old

Today's planned outdoor photo session was thwarted by rain, so we improvised with an indoor retro theme. Retro in that Carolyn is wearing the dress from my three month pictures. This was going to be my attempt to show that she does actually look like me, but, as you can see, that's not quite how it came across on camera. Thankfully, Desi makes a pretty girl:).

Below are some other random shots from today.

Louisville

We took a quick roadtrip to Louisville this past weekend to surprise Desi's brother, Wed, for his 40th birthday. His wife, Anne, threw a great party and Carolyn seemed to enjoy her first night out on the town. The original plan was for Carolyn and me to stay for an hour or so and then head out when she got fussy, but she behaved beautifully (she even got in two good naps) so we stayed for the whole party.

We also got to see cousins Jet and Jake and their Grandma Barb. Both cousins were very nice about sharing their Webkins with Carolyn. She tried to eat the Blue Hippo moments after this pic was taken.

One more day of summer

On Sunday, we enjoyed what may be the last of our 80+ degree days this year. We celebrated by taking a walk to town for an ice cream cone at Oberweis and swinging on our swing set.

Since this was also Carolyn's 12 week b-day here is a development update. Most impressively she rolled from front to back three times on Saturday. Once for Auntie Courtie and me and then two more times later in the day so Desi could see. Her toy grasping skills are improving and is starting to pull them toward her mouth (making her extra drooly). She loves to smile back at us and is exploring a her vocal chords. Her favorite time to practice speaking is when she wakes up in the morning. It took me a few days to realize that her shrieking was actually happy babbling.

Fall Festival

There were signs all over town about the WS Fall Festival, so, on Friday night, we decided to check it out. The crisp fall air gave me the perfect reason to put Carolyn in her sweat suit for the first time. There were hayrides, homemade chili, a pumpkin decorating contest and a haunted water tower tour. We just walked around a little before heading home.

desi rocks

Desi finally got the video upload to work!!:)

Meeting Grandpa Jim and Grandma Mila

Carolyn met Grandpa Jim and Grandma Mila for the first time this past week. We had a great time at cousin Sam's 3rd birthday party and hanging out in Western Springs. We went on daily walks with Grandma Mila and Carolyn enjoyed having Grandpa Jim sing her to sleep.

New Stats

Carolyn had her 2 month appointment with the pediatrician on Tuesday (even though she was 11 1/2 weeks old). Her new stats: 11 lbs 10.5 oz and 23.5" long. Both are in the 50th percentile. Her head on the other hand was in the 25th percentile (I forget how many centimeters). At the appointment she also received round one of her vaccinations, 4 shots (2 in each leg), as evidenced by the pink bandaids, and one orally. She shares my dislike for needles (there was some screaming), but she quickly calmed down.

Jumperoo!!!

She is still a bit too short for it, but since Carolyn loves trying to stand on our laps and dancing around, we decided to try out the Jumperoo. A pillow made up for the height issue and she had a great time. Most of the toys and lights didn't seem to amuse her, but the rattle-noise when she bounces made her smile (she loves rattles!). Video coming soon (once I figure out how to shrink the file size or something).
