Wiggleworms at the Zoo

The Brookfield Zoo hosts free Wiggleworms concerts every Wednesday throughout the summer and last week we finally made it to one with some friends.

Hot, hot fireworks

We braved the 90 something degree heat to stake out a great spot and to enjoy some fun family time at the Taste of Oak Brook. We brought along our own tent to create some shade for baby Desi on what is otherwise an open driving range. The kids had fun with their friends and enjoyed the fireworks show. Baby Desi didn't mind the noise and just relaxed in Auntie NeeNee's arms for the entire half hour display.

Meeting Grandpa Jim and Grandma Mila

Grandma Mila and Grandpa Jim came to town to celebrate Grandpa Jim's birthday and to meet their newest grand child, baby Desi.

All of the cousins helped out with the birthday candles.

James thoroughly enjoyed his piece of cake and spent some time showing Grandpa Jim how to use his birthday present: an iPad.

Long Grove Strawberry Festival

Since we were going to Auntie Marichu's in the afternoon, we decided to head up north a little bit early to check out the Long Grove Strawberry Festival.  There weren't quite as many strawberry-themed things as expected, but we had a nice time walking around and the strawberry donuts were delicious!
