Even though the typical first dentist visit happens at three, I decided to take Carolyn with me for my last check-up so she could get a taste of the experience. She watched my cleaning and asked the hygienist lots of questions. When I was done, she announced that it was her turn and climbed enthusiastically into the chair (which she discovered makes a great slide). She loved to this pair of cool shades that the hygienist offered to block the bright light and picked out grape flavored flouride, but that was where her cooperation and excitement ended. We made a few attempts to get her to open her mouth, but didn't push too hard when she refused so as not to make any unfavorable memories. She still got a new toothbrush and some Sponge Bob toothpaste (she doesn't know who he is, but liked the yellow box) and hopefully she'll be ready in July.
