18 months!

Today Carolyn celebrated the big one-and-a-half mark. Desi is home this week so he joined us for library class and we had an otherwise normal Wednesday. Here is an update on some of her favorite things these days. Also on the list, but for which I'm lacking photos, are classic Sesame Street skits on You Tube, all things baby (particularly pictures of herself as a baby), and scooting down the steps (which I'll capture on video one of these days).

Crayons/Coloring. Carolyn's big gift for Christmas from Mommy and Daddy was her activity table. She loves using it for playing with her Little People and various other toys, but particularly enjoys finally having a large area to color on. Taking the crayons in and out of the box is a favorite activity as well.

Bows. We've gone through many phases with bows: loving them, hating them, eating them, etc. We are now in the "one more" bow phase. This involves a bow being requested the moment she is taken out of her crib in the morning, quickly followed by her asking for one more. Throughout the day she will point to them and say bow, remove them and ask that they be put back in, etc. etc.

Hats. This hat came to us in the form of a party favor from cousin Sammi's safari birthday party in October. It has been in Carolyn's toy basket since then and in the last month or so it has gotten a lot of attention. She also enjoys wearing her fleece winter hat and beach hat around the house.

Teddys. Carolyn doesn't really have a blankie or other object that she loves or always carries around (the closest thing is the giraffe that she sleeps with), but lately a selection of teddy bears have become her constant play companions. She'll put them in chairs next to her while she colors, insist that they join us on the couch while reading and she'll even offer them a crayon or tea cup to join in our playing.

Food. She continues to pleasantly surprise me by eating just about anything served to her. Here she is enjoying some egg roll, beef and broccoli and fried shrimp at Desi's Aunt and Uncle's going away party (they are moving to Vegas) last weekend.

Daddy. The Mommy love hasn't faded, but the Daddy love just keeps on growing. He's the only one (besides stuffed animals) that she'll give a real kiss to on the cheek. Tonight when she and I were headed upstairs for bath time, she stopped, came back down a few steps and gave Daddy a kiss through the spindles of the staircase. It was too cute:)

Blowing bubbles. We've been working on it since Florida and now she seems to have blowing bubbles down. This is perfect timing because swimming lessons start on Monday. I'm really excited because they are at the same pool where I took lessons when I was little (LT North), although when I went to sign her up, it was a little bit weird to see the same 80's pictures of swimming/water polo champions on the walls.
